Company recoups on National Tour

Company cast member Britney Coleman (Bobbie) shared to her Instagram on Saturday, September 14, 2024 that the first National Tour of Company announced to the company that the show recouped its investment during their run in Los Angeles last month.

The touring production launched at Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady, NY on October 8, 2023. It is currently booked through October 6, 2024 with its final engagements set for Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.

Company, the musical comedy masterpiece about the search for love and cocktails in New York, is turned on its head in Elliott’s revelatory staging, in which musical theatre’s most iconic bachelor is now a bachelorette. At Bobbie’s 35th birthday party, all her friends are wondering why isn’t she married? Why can’t she find the right man? And, why can’t she settle down and have a family? This whip smart musical comedy, given a game-changing makeover for a modern-day Manhattan, features some of Sondheim’s best loved songs, including “Company,” “You Could Drive a Person Crazy,” “The Ladies Who Lunch,” “Side by Side,” and the iconic “Being Alive.”

The cast of the tour is led by Britney Coleman as “Bobbie” with Judy McLane as “Joanne”. Rounding out the cast are Matt Bittner as “David”, Derrick Davis as “Larry”, Jessie Hooker-Bailey as “Sarah”, Javier Ignacio as “Peter”, James Earl Jones II as “Harry”, Elysia Jordan as “Susan/Priest”, Jhardon Dishon Milton as “Paul”, Matt Rodin as “Jamie”, Emma Stratton as “Jenny”, Jacob Dickey as “Andy”, Alexander Ríos as “PJ”, and David Socolar as “Theo”.

The cast also includes Matthew Christian, Christopher Deangelis, Kenneth Quinney Francoeur, CJ Greer, Beth Stafford Laird, Emilie Renier, and Christopher Henry Young.

The Broadway production of Company began previews March 2, 2020, and after the COVID-induced shutdown, officially opened December 9, 2021 at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The Broadway production concluded its run on July 31, 2022, playing 32 previews and 265 performances.

With direction by Marianne Elliott, the musical features a book by George Furth and music/lyrics by Stephen Sondheim; choreography by Liam Steel; additional vocal arrangements by Joel Fram; scenic/costume design by Bunny Christie; lighting design by Neil Austin; tour sound design by Keith Caggiano; illusions by Chris Fisher; and hair/wig/make-up by Campbell Young Associates.
